1. first csa pickup of the season – hoorah for kale, green onions, strawberries, and red basil plants!
2. no camping sadly, but lots of parades with sequinned mermaids and topless girls. plus hobbs! and danielle! and AP!
3. started bicycling to work again. it is a surprisingly lovely ride, and it means i get to sit in central park in the morning and watch sea lions while i drink my coffee, because i always seem to give myself more time than i need (unlike the train, where i seem inevitably to give myself less)
4. i officially am getting a brand-new beefed up crew! which means me, k, plus TWO other folks AND an intern. hoo-yah.
5. got poured and i mean POURED on – with thunder beginning before the lightning ended. weather sure is neat, but kinda…wet.
6. realized i have no completely free weekends til august. yikes.
7. saw the first tri-nations match at sheep station with webb and tyshawn sue – scrappy tight game between the boks and all-blacks. so soooo super excited about seeing the boks play samoa in paris with anna in sept!! and superexcited that there’s a good kiwi bar that plays live rugby on their big screen and makes amazing coffee. sometimes its good to live in brooklyn.
and now there will be brunching and – more parades. ach. its kind of like the exact opposite of camping. but fire island is apparently a buggy hell of being eaten alive right now, so i am glad to not be eaten alive, and really who doesn’t like a good parade now and then?
