to the sculptor of the snow creatures of the north woods ramble in central park yesterday:
thank you.
they were a delight to stumble across. after spending the morning going stir-crazy catching up on all of the office-y things which get left behind when one normally works in the field, a group of fellow office-ites and i took a group field trip to the park on ostensibly work-related business, and while admiring an adjacent quite splendid snowman with aster eyes, discovered your handsome small robin perched in the branches of a black cherry tree. it was just at the perfect height for noticing, and being startled by the cleverly made twig feet and beak, and its sheer liveliness. it looked almost as though a small bird had landed and then been iced over as quickly as the ducks on the pond in fried green tomatoes at the whistle stop cafe.
and then to turn and see perched on a nearby rock, framed against the icily humming creek, a duck! all sculpted out of ice and perched on yellow legs and looking so much better than an aflac advertisement. a delight.
so thank you, whoever you are. you made my day.
sincerely, katerli
